Hi, and welcome! My name is Tess Koman. I’ve spent the past 15 years in media. I started by reporting on women’s issues for Cosmo, ELLE, and Esquire. I then pivoted hard into food, writing about the food landscape and eating my way through theme parks (for Delish, but also for reader service, I guess?). Most recently, I ran Serious Eats for 3.5 years before being laid off amidst the biggest medical catastrophe of my life. That! shit! changed! me!, etc., etc.

TL;DR: I’m an (award-winning, currently involuntarily retired) editor, writer, and author who loves and hates everything and is excited to write about all of it on my own terms for the first time in my career. It’s either going to go really, really well, or, in about three months, we will all be forbidden from ever talking about this again.

Bite Back, specifically, is a newsletter dedicated to my current post-sepsis-and-bowel-perforation recovery, with a hit of tips from professionals and other messy people about how to manage chronic and/or invisible illness.

Why subscribe?

Because you’ll get full access to the Bite Back newsletter and publication archives. It’ll be so fun! If it isn’t, let me know! I’m famously great at receiving feedback.
